Cali Calling
Cali, COL, hosted the Latin American DanceSport Championships concurrently with the National Championships and an Adjudicators' Congress over the past weekend at the Coliseum Evangelista Mora.
86 couples competed in Latin and Standard. Ten Latin American countries were represented: Argentina, Venezuela, Ecuador, Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Peru, Bolivia, Colombia and Trinidad - Tobago.
According to reports in the local press, spectator turnout was again high - above all for the Salsa Open Championship.
Everybody wanted to see the winners of the World Games Salsa gold, Cali residents Jefferson Benjumea and Adriana Ávila, dance for another title.
The couple that - unfortunately - could not make it to the World DanceSport Games in Kaohsiung, TPE, two weeks earlier ended up in first among 40 couples here too.
Daniel Camacho y Estefanía Pérez (ECU) won the Latin Open title ahead of José Romero y Verónica Padrón (ECU).
