Day 1 Highlights from the WDSF Asian DanceSport Festival 2024 in Wuxi, China

Wuxi, China – July 18, 2024 – The WDSF Asian DanceSport Festival 2024 kicked off yesterday, captivating audiences and participants alike in Wuxi, China. In total, we have received over 2100 competition entries and 4042 athletes across the entire WDSF Asian DanceSport Festival, making this a historical moment for the WDSF. With 28 WDSF events, 5 prestigious title events and GrandSlam Latin and Standard, we have organized a platform where our athletes can showcase their passion and dedication to DanceSport. This festival is truly an international event, with representation from top athletes from all over the world.

Day 1 featured a vibrant array of competitions, standout performances, and engaging displays of talent, setting a high-energy tone for the days to come. The festival, running from July 17th to 21st, 2024, brings together top talent from across the world to compete and showcase their skills in the prestigious DanceSport disciplines of Latin and Standard. Hosted by the Chinese DanceSport Federation, this event highlights the growing popularity and cultural significance of DanceSport in the region.

  • World Championship Latin Junior II:
    • 1st Place: Yigit Bayraktar / Lukrecija Kuraite (Germany)
    • 2nd Place: Mikalai Charniak / Lizaveta Hmyrak (WDSF)
    • 3rd Place: Artem Crivenco / Sofiya Malik (Moldova)
  • WDSF Open Solo Latin Juvenile II:
    • 1st Place: Yixue Xia (China)
    • 2nd Place: Yutong Fang (China)
    • 3rd Place: Yini Xie (China)
  • WDSF Open Solo Standard Juvenile II:
    • 1st Place: Yijing Ma (China)

  • WDSF Open Latin Junior I:

The first day of competitions at the WDSF Asian DanceSport Festival was a resounding success. However, the event began three days ago with a series of training and development sessions for younger athletes the Asian Training Camp for Youth and Junior athletes, featuring illustrious couple stars and top athletes such as Marius Balan and Krystyna Moshenska, Charles Schmitt and Elena Salikova, Tomas Fainsil and Violetta Fainsil, and Darius Mycka and Madara Freiberga.

The workshops covered a range of topics focused on Latin Dances, including Performance Skills, Musicality, Focus, and Expression. For Standard Dances, classes were offered on Effective Swings, Dynamic Actions, and Moving as One in partnership.

These workshops were generously sponsored and free of charge for all emerging talents. This initiative not only showcased the event’s commitment to featuring the world’s greatest athletes but also highlighted our dedication to nurturing the future leaders of DanceSport.

During the opening ceremony of the World Championship Junior II Latin, WDSF President Mr. Shawn Tay delivered a speech highlighting the international participation and the dedication of the athletes.
