“We are thrilled to team up with Moises and Break Free Worldwide as we continue growing Breaking globally,” said WDSF President Shawn Tay. “We are especially interested in hosting WDSF Breaking events with Break Free Worldwide in the United States, the birthplace of Breaking, where we want to strengthen ties with the American Breaking community to give Breakers there more opportunities to become involved in WDSF competitions and activities. For these reasons, we feel that Break Free Worldwide, with its great experience and expertise, is the perfect partner to meet our Olympic Movement commitments and deliver our vision for Breaking in the United States and around the world.”

Break Free Worldwide CEO Rivas added: “My team and I are extremely excited for the opportunity to bring world-class competitions that can provide an immense amount of opportunity to the Breaking community in the USA, but most importantly to reinforce the vision and alignment of professional Breaking and the bright future it holds for the next generation of Breakers.”

The WDSF Breaking Event Management Team, led by Bojin “B-Boy Bojin” Chen, will work closely with Break Free Worldwide to ensure that all WDSF Rules and Regulations are followed, while also assisting in the integration of the events into the International Calendar. The WDSF will also assist the relevant Local Organising Committees to ensure compliance with WDSF and World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) regulations and the Olympic Charter.

Rivas has been an active B-Boy since 1995 and has won titles in over 60 countries around the world. He is also well-acquainted with the Olympic Movement, having played a leading role in Breaking’s debut at the 2018 Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he was both a head judge and an Athlete Role Model, appointed by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to mentor the young B-Boys and B-Girls who competed at the event. Rivas has also been a member of the WDSF’s Athletes Commission and he holds the highest level of WDSF Breaking Judge licences.
