Freitag meets with Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee President

The number of games that DanceSport is involved in has been on a steady increase since it first featured on the programme of The World Games in 1997. But the most recent addition to the list is different in two crucial ways.

First, the WDSF World DanceSport Games are more monothematic than even the SportAccord World Artistic Games, and – second – they are “wholly owned and operated” by the federation.

The concept and the blueprints for the World DanceSport Games were all developed by WDSF. When it came to finding a suitable host and organiser for the first edition, President Carlos Freitag approached the city where DanceSport lived a stellar moment during The World Games 2009: Kaohsiung, TPE.

Upon his return from a visit there together with the General Secretary Shawn Tay, Freitag reported immediately to the WDSF Member Bodies. 

It is with pleasure, satisfaction and pride that I wish to inform you that we have reached an agreement with governmental and sporting authorities in Kaohsiung and Taiwan to conduct the inaugural edition of the

WDSF World DanceSport Games 2013 Kaohsiung

WDSF will inform exhaustively about the World DanceSport Games 2013 in Kaohsiung over the coming weeks and months. For the time being, a brief look back at the Standard tournament of The World Games 2009 at the Kaohsiung Arena allows you to appreciate the city's enthusiasm for DanceSport.
