Two Down! Thousands To Go!

IDSF Communication Commission Chair Heidi Goetz approached some of the top-ranked Latin couples to help her with the launch of the "Keeping The Focus On Athletes" initiative.

Martino Zanibellato and Michelle Abildtrup, DEN, were first to come back with a reply and a filled in questionnaire. The information they provided went up on their own microsites within worlddancesport.org.

Aside from general information, their competition and partner history, you can now read up on what makes them "click" in the sections "Biography" and "Profile." Add to this the exceptional photography by our collaborator Prof Dr Helmut Roland (www.sportevent-photography.de) and you end up with the full picture on Martino and Michelle. Our thanks go to both athletes as well as the photographer!

That the initiative would be an ambitious one, that much we knew from the outset. As we compile similar background on other Latin couples in the lead-up to our "Live from Marseille, FRA" blog, i.e. on the 2011 IDSF European Latin held there, we are convinced that we will get their collaboration too.

While IDSF Communications does not comment on posts in a forum of other websites, it wants to set the record straight on what "Keeping The Focus On Athletes" is all about. The initiative seeks to finally do what nearly all the other International Sports Federations have done already.

Providing athletes with an opportunity to present themselves off the floor as well! That this will be done in full compliance with the applicable laws governing privacy and data protection goes without saying. Each athlete determines what information he or she wants to be made public.

The sections "Biography" and "Profile" provide EVERY ATHLETE in the IDSF Registration and Licensing System (RLS) with his or her own space for self-portrayal.
