Rock 'n' Roll Judging System

Rock 'n' Roll © Reinhard Egli Starting from 2014 the World Rock ‘n’ Roll Confederation will use a revised and improved judging system for its championships.

Much like WDSF, WRRC had embarked on a process that aimed at improving the assessment of the performances. A working group came up with a system that distinguishes between a technical and an artistic part in the evaluation of the performance, that provides the athletetes with feedback, and that is easily understood by the public.

Even if the system will not yet be in use for this year’s World Championship, reading through the WRRC briefing paper on what it entails – and specifically of what it aims to achieve – is advisable for all those watching the live feed from Winterthur this weekend. Watch at www.swiss-sport.tv!

The Judging System 2.0 – which was developed by the WDSF Sports Department on similar premises – will also be ready for its rollout at next year’s Adult World Championships.

Open Source Sports Director Marco Sietas and software developer Olav Groehn have only recently announced that the System 2.0 source code will be made public in the very near future. With this the development of soft- and hardware for systems based on it will accelerate further.
