Hard work paid off for Earle Williamson – Veronika Myshko (UKR)
Vila Nova de Famalicão (POR) hosted the highly anticipated 2023 WDSF World Ten Dance Championship last week. 30 couples representing as many WDSF National Member Bodies entered the World Championship parquet on the first round of the day electrifying the venue instantly. As the competition progressed and the rounds were completed after another, the remaining six finalist couples gave the loud spectators a show which will be remembered for a long time.
The day was owned by Earle Williamson – Veronika Myshko (UKR), who in their own words had been preparing for the day for decades. The 2021 WDSF European Ten Dance Champions performed consistently having equally strong Standard and Latin halves of the final and ending the day with them being gloriously announced the 2023 WDSF World Champions. Dream came true for this couple who had pursued to find the best in them, trained hard with the best support they could have, and continued to improve no matter the setbacks or disappointments in the past. And the determination and effort turned out to be worth it, and it was rewarded with the golden medals and their names carved on the World Champions’ Table of Honor.
The silver medals were awarded to the 2022 WDSF European Ten Dance Championship silver medalist couple Armand Fazullin – Klaudia Iwanska (POL). The couple nailed their Latin half of the final keeping the tension up and spectators holding on to their chairs in excitement until the very last dance of the Championship.
The 2022 WDSF European Ten Dance Cup winners Akim Pekunov – Masa Kastelic (SLO) also had a very strong Latin half of the final, and the couple climbed up in ranking to the World Championship podium taking the bronze medals home with them.
Vladislav Kozhevnikov – Eleonora Metelitsa (ISR), Lorenzo Alberetti – Aleksandra Raskatova (ITA) and Romans Dobrecovs – Violetta Levchenko (LAT) completed the final line-up, danced like never before, enjoyed the atmosphere in full and were awarded the rankings from 4th to 6th in respective order.
The Pavilhão Municipal de Vila Nova de Famalicão and the epic, enthusiastic ambience filled with the waving flags and loud spectator roaring offered another extraordinary experience for the athletes and for all who attended.
