EDC Venue: SECC
While 2007 saw the Eurovision Dance Contest (EDC) held in a London BBC studio with a limited capacity for a live audience, this year it is staged as a major public event at the Scottish Exhibition Centre (SECC) in Glasgow.
The SECC, located on the north bank of the River Clyde, is Scotland's national venue for large-scale public events.
Halls 3 and 4 will combine to an arena and accommodate Europe's largest televised dance extravaganza on September 6. The fifteen couples will perform on a custom-made dance floor, surrounded by an impressive set.
Seating capacity of the SECC will exceed 2,000 people in this configuration.
The organisers had it planned from the outset: the EDC should gradually close in on the scale and the ambitions of its sister event, the Eurovision Song Contest.
