Carlos Freitag: ARISF Vice President

Avatar The Association of Recognised International Sports Federations (ARISF) elected IDSF President Carlos Freitag as its Vice President.

At the ARISF General Meeting held in Denver, USA, on 24 March, representatives of the 32 International Sports Federations which are recognised by the International Olympic Committee elected Carlos Freitag to a four-year term as Vice President.

Carlos Freitag joins ARISF President Dr. Jan Fransoo and four other members on the executive of the organisation which unites all sports eligible to be on the programme of the Olympic Games.

The mission of ARISF is to secure these sports a voice within the Olympic Movement and to assist them in the pursuit of the objective of getting onto the Olympic Sports Programme.

ARISF receives annually 160,000 US$ in sport development funding from the IOC and distributes them among its 32 member federations.

DanceSport is now represented on the executives of the two umbrella organisations for non-Olympic sport. IDSF Vice President Lukas Hinder serves on his third term as Treasurer of the International World Games Association (IWGA). With a membership that differs only slightly from that of ARISF, IWGA administers The World Games, a quadrennial and multidisciplinary event featuring the 30+ non-Olympic sports.
