Watch your language!

The "Live from Chengdu" blog was a resounding success but ... It also demonstrated that the type of interactivity WDSF Communications had in mind is not (yet) achievable.

When the format of a blog was first considered to bring coverage of WDSF competitions to a global audience through the Internet, interactivity was quite possibly the one feature that intrigued us at WDSF Communications the most.

Not only would we provide you, the audience, with a steady flow of information (videos, photos, results, whatever), you would be able to give us your feedback, voice your opinion, express your thoughts ... Through your comments! The "Live from ..." blogs were intended to develop into  lively platforms where exchange between members of the audience - and between you and us - would be an important part of it all.

Yesterday we were forced to publish a warning because ...

... a few of you believing that an opinion is best expressed by using foul language and expletives, and that declaring one’s preference for a determined couple is a matter of insulting another. WDSF will not tolerate that, and the easiest way for us to stop it is certainly not by editing your comments …  But by deactivating the comment function altogether!

Then we did have to deactivate comments because someone felt compelled to continue insulting the athletes and this organisation.

We are now discussing internally how to proceed from here. If someone can contribute with a suggestion, practical solution, etc., please send them to [email protected]
