Balan – Moshenska (GER) to gain the 2023 World Latin Title

2023 World Latin Title All eyes of the DanceSport World turned their attention to Sibiu (ROU) last week to witness exceptional talent, athleticism and elegance combined with dynamic Latin rhythms and precision of movement of the best Latin couples in the world. 69 couples representing 40 National Member Bodies had earned their spot at the polished 2023 WDSF World Latin Championship floor, and the venue was packed from the first round until the very last tunes of the Dance of Honor.

It was, indeed, an exceptional evening for the Romanian-born Marius-Andrei Balan, who felt the ambience of the home crowd already during the first rounds and enjoyed the music and vibrant atmosphere in full. Together with his loving partner Khrystyna Moshenska they performed their best leading to their third consecutive World Latin title. The fantastic couple representing Germany had reached their previous two titles on their home ground in Germany making this third one also home-bound due to his roots.

Charles-Guillaume Schmitt – Elena Salikhova (FRA) brought their sparkles and shine to the floor, having the time of their life which earned them the silver medals for the second consecutive year. The first timers on the podium were Guillem Pascual – Diandra-Aniela Illes (ESP), who won the bronze and their first World Championship medals in Adults. The Romanian Diandra-Aniela, alongside with Marius-Andrei, had the advantage of the special home crowd support, and it together with her partnering with Guillem earned her their spot on the podium, for the first time since her earlier career in Youth.

The competition for the following three positions was extremely tight and exciting. The fourth place was presented to Yan Bangbang – Du Yujun (CHN) before Malthe Brinch Rohde – Sandra Sorensen (DEN) and Ionut Alexandru Miculescu – Andra Pacurar (ROU) who ranked fifth and sixth in respective order. The difference in scores between these three couples in the end was only 0.705 points.
This week the WDSF World DanceSport wagon travels to Vila Nova de Famalicão (POR) for the 2023 WDSF World Championship Ten Dance.
