Anniversary
The upcoming 2017 General Meeting (AGM) in Singapore celebrates the 60th anniversary of the founding of the International Council of Amateur Dancers which became the International and then the World DanceSport Federation.
In his welcoming address to the delegates to this AGM, WDSF President Lukas Hinder writes:
"We celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of this federation: that’s ICAD, which became IDSF and, finally, WDSF.
We do so, knowing full well that there was a predecessor organisation founded 22 years earlier – and that this “Fédération de Danse pour Amateurs” pursued the exact same goals. One can only assume that without the politics leading to World War II, FIDA could have gone the distance. Hence, we are FIDA too!
Not everybody knows that there is another reason to celebrate: this is our 50th AGM, number 25 was held right here, in Singapore, 25 years ago."
