Knockout Stage Set to bring B-Boy Competition to Thrilling Conclusion

Following a gruelling two-and-a-half-hour Round Robin session featuring 24 battles, the knockout bracket of the B-Boy competition is now complete, setting the stage for what promises to be a thrilling conclusion to Breaking’s Olympic debut at Paris 2024.

The first two B-Boys to do battle on the day were also the first to progress to the quarterfinals. Shigekix came out flying, taking 12 of a possible 18 votes against USA’s Victor. But it was the American who topped Group A in the end, following two solid performances against Lithe-ing of the People’s Republic of China and Hiro10 of Japan.

Hiro10 failed to advance after three spirited performances of his own, the 19-year-old’s only misfortune being the fact that he was drawn in a group that featured three powerhouses. He left the field of play in tears but was consoled by the MCs and a warm round of applause from an audience highly appreciative of his efforts.

2018 Youth Olympic Games bronze medallist Shigekix and the always dangerous Victor were soon joined in the quarters by Group B winner Phil Wizard of Canada and runner-up Dany Dann of France, much to the delight of the home crowd.

Group C went down to the wire, with Netherland’s B-Boy Lee requiring an emphatic win (14 votes to 4) in his third contest against Lagaet (FRA) to bounce the Frenchman and 3^rd-place Hongten (KOR) from the tournament. Lee finished 2^nd in the group behind USA’s Jeffro.

Rounding out the Final 8 are Menno of the Netherlands and Amir of Kazakhstan. Now 35, the evergreen Dutchman looks like he still has all it takes to go deep in the competition, winning Group D without dropping a round.

In the quarterfinals, Danny Dann will kick things off against Jeffro, followed by Victor vs Amir, Shigekix vs Menno, and Lee vs Phil Wizard.

The quarterfinals are scheduled to begin at 20:00 local time, followed by the semifinals at 20:45 and finals at 21:15. Do not miss it!
