Declan Hive In a moving address to the 2016 General Meeting in Rome, ITA, Declan Hive, the current delegate from Trinidad and Tobago, remembered his predecessor, Carl Edwards, who had passed away recently.

Hive spoke of Edwards' efforts in promoting DanceSport in the Caribbean country and affirmed his commitment to continue the work started by Edwards.

The day after the General Meeting Hive reported to the WDSF Presidium on the latest initiatives of the National Ballroom Dance Association of Trinidad and Tobago that count on the substantial support of the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs. A National Centre for DanceSport is in the advanced stages of planning.

After the report of Declan Hive the Presidium of the World DanceSport Federation resolved to

welcome and support the initiative of the Trinidad WDSF Member body ("NABDATT") and the Government of Trinidad and Tobago


-- to support and develop WDSF DanceSport in Trinidad and Tobago

-- to provide structured funding for WDSF DanceSport in Trinidad and Tobago

-- to create a Caribbean WDSF DanceSport Centre in Trinidad and Tobago

-- from the strong base build in Trinidad and Tobago by NABDATT and the T&T Government, to promote and develop WDSF DanceSport training, competitions, and Memberships in the Caribbean

-- in cooperation with WDSF and other Carribbean WDSF Member bodies, to support and develop WDSF's candidacy for admission to the Medal Programme of the Pan American Games

-- in cooperation with WDSF and other Carribbean WDSF Member bodies, to support and develop WDSF's candidacy for admission to the Medal Programme of other recognized Games including the Youth Olympic Games and the Summer Olympic Games
