From Wuppertal, GER
This year it was the 13th edition of the DanceComp in the historical town hall in Wuppertal. It is meanwhile tradition that beside the WDSF World Open STD and LAT many national competitions of all grades take place in 3 halls. The organizers , Mr. Norbert Jung and Ivo Münster from TNW, GER, were happy to welcome around 2500 competitors in these days.
All the couples that danced here in the last years can probably remember the weekend in 2015. It was the hottest summer weekend. This year everybody was lucky because of the weather situation and the couples were provided best conditions.
This year the organizing committee added a new category to the program – the Jive Cup.
Everybody, who loves dancing, especially Jive, is invited to take part. Couples of all levels and of all age groups – from Juvenile to Senior – took the opportunity and entered in this competition. The atmosphere was great and of course a very talented juvenile couple turned out to be everybody’s darling.
Another special moment on Saturday evening was the traditional presentation of the
Oliver Wessel-Therhorn Award. The award ceremony in memoriam of the legend Oliver Wessel-Therhorn started with a video, showing him together with his partner Martina in a show. Great moments ! Thomas Kokott presented this year’s award winner William Pino in a speech. For many years he was together with his wife Alessandra student and very close friend to Oliver. I think it was a very emotional moment when William Pino received this award.
The main event on Saturday evening was the WDSF World Open STD with an entry of 94 couples. Winners of this competition were Simone Segatori and Annette Sudol, GER.
