We invited all three candidates to tell us something about themselves as part of their campaigning.
Here is what Andrea Roccatti, ITA, sent us.
I am ANDREA ROCCATTI from Italy, I am 18 years old, I am an active Under21 athlete representing Italy and I live in Rome. First I would like to submit a short CURRICULUM VITAE to you: with my partner Flaminia Iannone, I was six times Italian Champion in Standard and Ten Dance Junior and Youth, ,five times finalist at the World Championship Junior and Youth, Standard and Ten Dance. In 2015 I won the bronze medal at the World Championship Youth Standard and the bronze medal at the World Championship Youth Ten Dance. I'm still studying, I will finish this year my study in high school.
Here is why I deceided to be a candidate: I compete in Standard, Latin and Ten Dance in all International WDSF competitions since I was Junior, I would like to bring my experience to the Athletes' Commission, helping to understand what is necessary to encourage young athlets to move forward with determination and enthusiasm - and to believe in sport. Of course, I want to help finding the problems that sometimes undermine our confidence and obstruct our careers, and I want to look for a solution. I would like to give some new ideas to stimulate the motivation for young dancers to do all three disciplines (Standard, Latin and Ten Dance), minimum until they turn 18. I want, for myself and for everybody else, to continue to believe in DanceSport and in the Olympic dream, having clear ideas and the support from WDSF and the Member Associations. Last but not least, I want to suggest to WDSF, through the Athletes' Commission, to invest in the future and the young couples, creating something like "Athletes Talent Project."
P.S. Tomorrow's candidate: Justyna Możdżonek, POL! WDSF Communications has not yet heard back from the third candidate, Jan Janzen, GER. He, too, is invited to provide us with a short write-up that we can publish on worlddancesport.org this Friday.
