Balan - Moshenska (GER) and Glukhov - Glazunova (MDA) take the lead of the GrandSlam Series

The athletes agreed on it. The inaugural leg of the 2023 WDSF GrandSlam Series kicked-off the DanceSport year once and for all.

The enthusiastic spectators of both the Saturday and Sunday evenings saw what they came in for: Highly athletic, beautiful and dynamic Latin and Standard dancing from the top of the world. The couples felt the ambience and demonstrated their very best in front of the excited and supportive crowd and fans cheering and appreciating the efforts of the couples on the centre stage. The long-awaited return of these DanceSport Superstars to the dancefloor in China was appreciated by the fans who in addition to an overwhelming support drowned them with presents and flowers backstage after the event.

2023 WDSF GrandSlam Wuxi

The Saturday’s Latin evening belonged to the reigning World and European Champions Marius-Andrei Balan – Khrystyna Moshenska (GER). The couple wow’d the audience, impressed the Adjudicators and won the first event of the 2023 WDSF Grand Slam Series with well-earned high scores taking a solid lead of the Series ranking. Charles-Guillaume Schmitt – Elena Salikhova (FRA) secured their second place with their artistic yet athletic approach to Latin dancing, and the Chinese fans were thrilled to see Yan Bangbang – Du Yujun (CHN) taking the third place on the podium. Malthe Brinch Rohde – Sandra Sorensen (DEN) finished fourth, Winson Tam – Anastasia Novikova (HKG) fifth and Konstantin Gorodilov – Polina Figurenko (EST) sixth adding to an explosive final leaving the spectators in feeling of amazement.

2023 WDSF GrandSlam Wuxi On Sunday, the Standard couples continued where the Latin couples left off. Alexey Glukhov – Anastasia Glazunova (MDA) nailed their performance and gained their first WDSF GrandSlam win before the recently crowned World Championship silver medallists Tomas Fainsil – Violetta Fainsil (GER). The battle for the bronze was extremely tight and with a difference of only 0,043 points in scores Rares Cojoc – Andreea Matei (ROU) took the last place on the podium. Nearly making it to the podium Dariusz Mycka – Madara Freiberga (POL) finished fourth, Vadim Shurin – Anastasia Meshkova (LAT) fifth and Dmitri Kolobov – Signe Busk (DEN) sixth completing the breathtakingly thrilling and yet aesthetically captivating final.
