WDSF To Release New Breaking World Ranking System

In the coming days, the World DanceSport Federation (WDSF) is set to release a new World Ranking system for B-Boys and B-Girls that more accurately reflects the current global Breaking landscape.

The new system will incorporate the results of recent WDSF Breaking events, most notably the two Olympic Qualifier Series (OQS) in Shanghai and Budapest and the Olympic Games Paris 2024, which were previously excluded due to limited athlete quotas and to allow those attempting to qualify for these events to focus solely on competing without the added pressure of additional ranking events.

As a result, the new rankings will capture all the outstanding performances of our Olympians, in particular the six medallists: B-Girls Ami (JPN-Gold), Nicka (LTN-Silver), and 671 (CHN-Bronze); and B-Boys Phil Wizard (CAN-Gold), Dany Dann (FRA-Silver), and Victor (USA-Bronze).

While the WDSF remains steadfast in its commitment to transparency and fairness in the competitive ranking process, we recognise that the previous ranking system caused a certain amount of confusion in the weeks following Breaking’s debut at the Olympic Games Paris 2024. As a result, it has been removed from the WDSF website and will be replaced by the new rankings in due course.
