Profile

Frieda "BGirl Frost" Frost is a dancer, choreographer, researcher and cultural manager. She is a PhD student at the Institute of Dance and Movement Culture of the German Sport University Cologne and currently concluding her OhD about Breaking. She lives between Morocco (Rabat/Casablanca) and Germany (Cologne/Berlin).

Starting breaking in 2001, within her international competition carreer, she competed and had been invited at events such as International Battle of the Year (BOTY) Bgirl Battle, BOTY France Bgirl Battle, Bgirl Champs Berlin, BOTY Germany, EURO Battle Portugal, World Battle Porto, RedBull BC One Cypher Germany, Best Moroccan Bgirl, Scandinavian Superjam, The Quest Goetheborg, Queen 16 Germany or I love HipHop Festival.

Frost started judging breaking competitions early in her career, judging various international competitions such as DROP Festival Amsterdam, Dutch Bgirl Championship, Swedish Championships, IBE Undisputed Qualifiers, Moroccan Breaking Championships or Freedom City Utrecht.

In 2022 Frost certified for Trivium, Threefold and WDSF judging system, and was invited as judge for Olympic Games in Paris 2024, after judging sucessfully Breaking for Gold competitons such as the Olympic Qualifier in Shanghai, the Oceania Continental Qualifier, the European Games, the International Series in Brazil or the European Championships in Manchester, UK.

Frost's study of sports science, economics and management at the German Sports University Cologne in Germany gives her practical and theoretical insights to sport structures as well as Breaking, combining both worlds - dance and sports.

Frost works as dancer and performer for (dance) theatre projects, is a cultural manager (e.g. for the Goethe-Institute Morocco), is teaching classes and workshops and is working for gender- and refugee-projects.

Frieda Frost developed an urban dance cultural specific teaching approach for teaching Breaking that is influenced by her expreriences in the urban dance scene, teaching at universities, contemporary and dance theatre contexts and her sport studies background. This approach is focusing on an individual, creative and collective learning space, with re-creating the cultural spaces of urban dance like the cypher or concepts like each-one-teach-one. In 2020, she received the  Digital Teaching Award of the German Sport University Cologne.

Frost ist founder of the @hiphopstudysunday that drops regular knowledge on hip hop and dance research, founding member of the Europen HipHop Studies Network, as well as founding member of the urban dance theatre collective  nutrospektif and member of the Breakdance-Crews Dirty Mamas Crew and Masterplan. In 2022 she co-founded the German-Moroccan dance company Cie Chara.
