Working on Vision
After the 2009 IDSF General Meeting had entrusted the VISION 2012 Working Group with the concept’s further elaboration, it took all of two year’s to bring phase one in the quest to restructure DanceSport’s world governing body to a successful conclusion.
The members of the group met in Sant Cugat, Spain, on 14 May to discuss final details prior to the IDSF 2011 General Meeting voting on several motions to start with the full implementation of VISION 2012.
The drafting and formalising of new IDSF Associate Membership Agreements were the principal tasks assigned to the Working Group in this first phase. After new agreements with the
- World Rock ‘n’ Roll Confederation
- United Country Western Dance Council
- International Paralympic Committee
- World Baton Twirling Federation
- IDSF Professional Division
are in place – fully ratified by all these organisations – their ratification by the 2011 IDSF General Meeting and the adoption of several statutory changes will start the process of turning VISION 2012 into reality.
From the change of name – new: World DanceSport Federation – to the restructure of the Presidium, with all Associate Members being represented on the latter, the different motions are on the agenda of the 21 June meeting in Luxembourg.
During its 14 May meeting, the VISION 2012 Working Group addressed several other issues that are of relevance in the progressive restructure of IDSF: Associate Members collaborating – and benefitting from collaboration – in areas such as Anti-Doping, Disciplinary Council, Athletes’ and Membership Commissions, etc.
