Where Are The Results? 20/04/2011

Information Technology

"Who has any news/results?" A question raised for the very first time on 16 April by C.G. on the Crystal Leaf DanceSport Championships facebook page. Maybe it was somewhat premature to ask for results back then, given that the 2011 IDSF World Senior I Ten Dance might still have been in progress.

"Results??????? It's incredible!!!!!!," J.M. posts on the same facebook page - but now it's four days later. And every question, and exclamation!!!!!, mark seems perfectly in order!!!!!!

Meanwhile, C. from Germany had contacted the IDSF webmaster: "Why are the results from the WC in Toronto not online? When will they come?" The webmaster conferred with the IDSF Sports Director, who conferred with President of the Canadian DanceSport Association, who conferred with the scrutineer ... Who referred to persisting problems in converting the result files into a suitable format as reason for the delay. "Still working on it though," reads the latest report by the scrutineer, which the President of the Canadian DanceSport Association forwarded to the IDSF Sports Director, along with the following suggestion: "Maybe an IDSF computer person can help."

On day four after the event, the organiser has put a simple message up on the event website (very stylishly designed but dysfunctional from the moment competitions went underway in Toronto): "Results can be found on idsf.net!"

Good thing that IDSF is working on getting this sorted out. Eventually! Yes, the day will come when every IDSF approved scrutineering software will produce competition results according to the specifications and the standards that are established by the IDSF IT working group, when every IDSF scrutineer will need to undergo adequate training, when results will be transmitted in real time from the competition site to worlddancesport.org, and when ...

... the results of the 2011 IDSF World Senior I Ten Dance will be posted here! Until then, the competition organisers should at least take note of our recent change of domain! And maybe they should assume a decidedly more active role themselves in getting the results up on worlddancesport.org too.

UPDATE: We finally got the results.
