SportAccord Report I 08/04/2014

2014 SportAccord Convention

At the end of the first day of the SportAccord meetings in Belek/Antalya, Turkey ...

It proved to be a long day filled with many presentations, voting rounds, elections - and not without the feeling that everyone here is striving towards an even bigger vision for the future.

SportAccord is made up of 103 member federations, whereas IWGA consists of only 36. 3 new sports had applied to be part of The World Games in the future. Pentathlon, Wushu and Kick Boxing! Only Kick Boxing was voted in. So IWGA is up to 37 member federations.

And a few lines on the Association of IOC Recognised International Sports Federations (ARISF) General Meeting.

World Anti-Doping President Sir Craig Reedie announced tougher sanctions for doping from 1 January 2015. Atltetes who have doped will be banned for four years - as opposed to two years now.
