IDSF Mourning A Loss 11/08/2010

Leon Leonard, BEL

The International DanceSport Federation is saddened to learn of the death of Mr Leon Leonard, IDSF Honorary Member. 

Leonard met his wife Irene in a dance school. They started to dance in 1951 and became Belgian Champions in Standard and Latin. They held their titles for ten years. They also danced in many finals in International competitions.
In 1970, Leonard started to work as an international Adjudicator in European and World Championships.

In 1958 Leonard was elected member of board of the Belgian DanceSport Federation. In 1966 he was elected as Vice President and later, in 1978 , as President.

For 25 years he was Vice President of the ICAD, which later became IDSF. In 1997 he retired and was appointed Honorary Member of the IDSF with voting rights.

He also served as President of the Belgian Rotary Club with 1,2 Million Members. The IDSF Presidium has expressed its deepest sympathy to Mr. Leonard`s family.
