That DanceSport continues to gather momentum in China is hardly news at this point. That the International DanceSport Federation has entered into a long-term agreement with its National Member Body in China and the Dongcheng district of Beijing is!

Under the terms of this agreement, IDSF will grant one major event per year to the Chinese DanceSport Federation for it to be staged in the very centre of the capital Beijing.

To situate you even better: the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square and the Confucius Temple are all located in the Dongcheng district.

On 24 and 25 September the inaugural edition of the IDSF World DanceSport Championship Freestyle (Latin/Standard) will be staged there too: at the Ditan Stadium! Freestyle's spectacular world premiere will coincide with the 2011 Asian DanceSport Championships, making the combined event the biggest ever held in Beijing. After last year's Asian Games in Guangzhou, the popularity of DanceSport has increased even further all around China.
