Capital Mundial de Salsa 19/02/2013

First Salsa Congress

For the first time ever, Salsa will feature in The World Games as an official part of DanceSport. That this will happen in Cali is certainly no coincidence: the Colombian city has long staked out the claim to be the world capital of this dance style. Indeed, Cali has fostered its development over many decades already and continues at the forefront of all things Salsa.

Over the upcoming weekend, 23 and 24 February, Cali hosts the first World Congress for "SalsaSport" - the competitive match-up of skills that awaits the spectators at the Cali bullring on 27 and 28 July during The World Games 2013.

WDSF Sports Director Marco Sietas is on his way to Cali and will be involved in the congress as well as in talks with the World Games organisers. We expect to be able to report extensively on the outcome of both after Marcos return next week.

Promotional activities are in full swing in the city. Time and again DanceSport exhibitions help to showcase the full sporting breadth of The World Games to the people in Colombia.
