2016 Grand Slam Helsinki 05/03/2016

Vasily Kirin - Ekaterina Prozorova, AUT © Roland As WDSF President Lukas Hinder looks back at the inaugural edition of the GrandSlam Helsinki he commends the organisers for a job well done!

"When I saw how the Finnish DanceSport Federation and the Master Dance Club had embedded our GrandSlam into the structures of their Finland Open 2015 I happily concluded that we had us another great host. This was what WDSF had in mind when it had launched the Series more than a decade earlier.

  • The highest ranked couples dancing in an event that does justice to their class.
  • All our stars performing at the same time and at a perfect venue!
  • To the tunes of an outstanding orchestra!
  • In front of an appreciative audience!
  • Caught expertly on camera and broadcast to the world!

"But most importantly, it is a matter of our dancers being looked after by people whose heart is into dance as sport.

"The Finland Open provides for all of this as it joins the ranks of a small number of select events with the same attribute."

This bodes well for the second edition of the GrandSlam Helsinki that gets underway on Saturday 5 March at the Messukeskus Expo! Read WDSF President' Hinder's welcoming address in the official magazine.
