One gold (Latin), one silver (Rock 'n' Roll) and one bronze (Standard) won in DanceSport helped to put Russia in first in the overall medal table by nation at The World Games 2009 in Kaohsiung, TPE.

Russia's National Committee for the Non-Olympic Sports has high hopes to see dancers on the podium in Cali, COL, too. And it should, given the caliber of the three couples that it brings to the games at the end of this month.

In Standard, it is the brother-and-sister couple made up of Sergei Konovaltsev and Olga Konovaltseva, aka "Air Konovaltsev."

They have had a great year so far, with third places in the European Standard in Aarhus, DEN, as well as the GrandSlams in Cambrils, ESP, and Hong Kong.

Timur Imametdinov - Ekaterina Nikolaeva © Roland Timur Imametdinov - Ekaterina Nikolaeva will try to match the Latin gold medal won by Alexey Silde and Anna Firstova on 25 July 2009 in front of 13,000 spectators at the Kaohsiung Arena.

Fourth in the 2012 GrandSlam Final in Shanghai, CHN, the couple won the World Open in Incheon, KOR, and narrowly missed another final at the GrandSlam in Hong Kong.

A Salsa couple will also be fielded by the Russian DanceSport Union.
