URGENT: EVENT CANCELLATION
Russian governmental and sporting authorities have informed the World DanceSport Federation (WDSF) that the upcoming European Youth Latin cannot be danced as scheduled on 31 March 2012 in Moscow, RUS.
WDSF has been advised in a letter from the Committee of National and Non-Olympic Sports that the Russian DanceSport Federation, which had its recognition suspended by the Ministry for Sports on 23 December 2011, failed to sign over the staging privileges to the 2012 European Youth Latin – and other competitions held in conjunction with the “Diamond Cup International 2012” – to the Committee.
As a consequence, the Russian authorities cancelled the championship with immediate effect. They officially informed WDSF of their decision by letter from the Committee of National and Non-Olympic Sports dated 28 March 2012 (below).
While still waiting for further and more detailed information from the Russian authorities, WDSF is unfortunately forced to communicate through all of its available channels that the 2012 European DanceSport Championship Youth Latin on 31 March has been cancelled.
WDSF has already been able to secure an alternate location and date for the 2012 European Youth Latin. The organisers of the German Open Championship – under the auspices of the German DanceSport Federation – will stage the championship on 14 August 2012 in Stuttgart, GER.
