The 2023 WDSF GrandSlam Series in Stuttgart (GER)

Following the highly successful inaugural leg of the 2023 WDSF GrandSlam Series in Wuxi (CHN), the second edition of the Series in Stuttgart (GER) offered another spectacle not only for the athletes but also for the spectators on site and also around the world watching the events via live streams on the Olympic Channel and on the WDSF platforms.

Securing their second Series win of the year, Alexey Glukhov – Anastasia Glazunova (MDA) enjoyed the event and performed their very best talent in the GrandSlam Standard final. Their successful Series debut of the year in Wuxi in July turned out to be a start for an amazing GrandSlam year, and the hard-training couple was awarded with another firm place on the top of the podium in Stuttgart. The couple was accompanied with Rares Cojoc – Andreea Matei (ROU) on the second step and Dmitri Kolobov – Signe Busk (DEN) on the third step on the podium. Vadim Shurin – Anastasia Meshkova (LAT), Dariusz Mycka – Madara Freiberga (POL) and Yuan Shaoyang – Qi Chongxuan (CHN) ranked from 4th to 6th in respective order.

The Stuttgart spectacle reached its peak point at the legendary Beethovensaal at the time of GrandSlam Latin final which, as the last event of the traditional German Open Championships, culminated the whole week. Marius-Andrei Balan – Khrystyna Moshenska (GER) continued with their winning streak by dominating the final and securing their second GrandSlam win of the year. Charles-Guillaume Schmitt – Elena Salikhova (FRA) repeated their silver medals from Wuxi, and Guillem Pascual – Diandra-Aniela Illes (ESP) grabbed the bronze. Yan Bangbang – Du Yujun (CHN), Malthe Brinch Rohde – Sandra Sorensen (DEN) and Ionut Alexandru Miculescu – Andra Pacurar (ROU) added to the final by lightning up the stage and contributing their talent and grace to the explosive final jointly created by all six fantastic couples.

Professional Division couples had their Super Grand Prix events during the Festival week. Edgars Linis – Eliza Line (LAT) won the breathtaking Standard event. The couple was accompanied with David Odstrcil – Tara Bohak (CZE) and Edgaras Baltaragis – Indre Kucinskaite (LTU) on the podium, ranking second and third in respective order. Andrea Silvestri – Martina Varadi (HUN) repeated their last year’s Stuttgart Super Grand Prix Latin win by dominating the captivating event. Marts Smolko – Tina Bazykina (LAT) made a fantastic comeback to the competition floor and ranked second while Sergiu Maruster – Anastasia Stan (MDA) had their debut at Super Grand Prix and ranked third.

The WDSF Associate Member, World Rock’n’Roll Confederation organized World Cup Boogie Woogie during the festival week, bringing together DanceSport athletes from different disciplines. An exciting Main Class final turned out to be a clash between a Finnish and two Swedish couples. Wilma Edlund – Victor Edlund (SWE) performed consistently and won the exciting final before Ida Keranen – Juho Paivinen (FIN) who nailed their slow round, and their fellow Swedes Lena Magnusson – Tobias Ramberg (SWE), who ranked third.

The young siblings Ida-Loviisa Koivunen – Aaron Koivunen (FIN) won the title of World Cup Boogie Woogie Juniors and Stéphanie Arnaud – Stéphane Martins (FRA) World Cup Boogie Woogie Seniors.
