SportAccord Report III

Eva and Ashli Today was a little different in agenda, we had more private meetings with a variety of different people to promote DanceSport as apposed to attending Annual General Meetings of associations.

There was a meeting with the representative of the World Master Games in New Zealand to hear what criteria WDSF needs to fulfil in order to be eleigible for the Auckland 2017 programme.

Carlos seems to be positive that we will be able to be part of the Master Games in the future. So this will be one more milestone achieved.

There were also other meetings with the International Federation of Cheerleading plus potential host cities for championships, World DanceSport Games and World Urban Games.

All these meetings had a positive outcome. WDSF had done its homework beforehand. I was not aware that the inner workings of WDSF were so fast. After one meeting, and all in a break of 10 minutes, Carlos and Lukas were on their phones getting Shawn (General Secretary) and Txus (WDSF Office) to start them working on what was agreed in discussions.

It is really great to see how our sport is viewed - together with the most popular sports in the world. And that our representatives Carlos and Lukas are such great promoters! They are able to enter into a direct dialogue with the presidents of the other federations and high-profile officials. It must have taken years to create this network. A big job well done!
