Australian Open

The Hisense Arena in the Melbourne Olympic Park is one of the main venues for the Australian Open in tennis. The campaign "Ready? Play." announces the event taking place from 14 to 27 January all over the city.

Where Roger Federer, Novak Djokovich and others slug it out in six weeks time, the top Standard couples crown their champions on Sunday already. And until then, other dancers are playing there too.

From Eureka Tower Skydeck 88 The (other) Australian Open Championships are a dance festival for everybody. Event Director Margaret Lonsdale provides a programme with great variety: the 2012 World DanceSport Championship Standard, International Open and Open competitions, Professional Division competitions ... As well as lectures held by Paolo Bosco and Zoran Plohl, congresses for adjudicators and chairmen.

Nearly all the couples taking part in the World Standard arrived in Melbourne and were invited to a "Get together - Welcome Party" in the Eureka Tower. From the Skydeck the couples enjoyed the magnificient views over Melbourne. Margaret, officials from the city government and WDSF President Carlos Freitag gave a warm and hearty welcome to the couples.
