Thomas Bach © Süddeutsche Thomas Bach was elected as the new International Olympic Committee President after two rounds of voting by the 125th Session in Buenos Aires ARG.

He succeeds 71-year-old Belgian Jacques Rogge, who stepped down after a full 12-year term that spanned three Summer Olympics and three Winter Games.

The World DanceSport Federation congratulates the new President to his election.

Also by vote of the 125th IOC Session, wrestling, which will be dropped as a core sport after the Rio 2016 Olympics, gets readmitted to the programme of the 2020 Games. Wrestling prevailed over the other two shortlisted sports baseball/softball and squash. The review process of the Olympic Programme ends with the latter remaining in its status quo. And the recognised sports that were considered for inclusion into future Games - DanceSport among them - have to put their aspirations on hold for another four years.
