2017 marks the second time that the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games are held under this inclusive brand. It was launched with the 2013 edition in Incheon, KOR. Prior to that, the Asian Indoor Games took place in Bangkok, THA, Macau, CHN, and Hanoi, VIE, with DanceSport always featuring on the official programme.
In Ashgabat, too, DanceSport will be contested under the uniquely Asian formula, with every single dance being a medal event of its own. 110 athletes compete on Monday and Tuesday 25 and 26 September for gold in the five Latin and Standard dances as well as in Salsa.
