DanceSport in Southern Africa: Lesotho Is Next Stop
Speaking to his favourite print outlet, the Swazi Observer, Sammy predicts that Swaziland dancers "will be demonstrating their talent abroad and I promise you they are on fire" at the First Lesotho DanceSport Challenge.
"I have seen them during their practice sessions and am very much sure that they will be at their best in Lesotho,” he said with confidence.
“Our dancers are expected to uplift their standards. Trainers including our acting president Mhleli Dlamini and Ncamiso Dlamini have been busy working with the dancers and have confirmed that as always they will return home with gold and silver medals. Actually, they have promised that bronze will be the last thing on their minds,” he said.
Not even three months ago, Lesotho’s dance team travelled to the Magolide DanceSport Championships in Swaziland. They were held on September 23 and saw the hosts battling it out with Botswana, South Africa, Mozambique, Zimbabwe ... and Lesotho.
Lesotho DanceSport Association (LEDASA) public relations officer Teboho Rakhomo, told the Sunday Express at the time that “last year we came third out of six countries that participated but this year we are looking to not only to move up a notch, but to bring the home title”.
"We are ready to work magic in Swaziland," Rakhomo said. And he turned out to be right.
What else could be more appropriately labelled as freedom to dance than the thriving and fiercely competitive DanceSport scene in Southern Africa?
