At The After-Party

Sportel Awards Night © Sportel That DanceSport had its stellar moment in Monaco last night, when the prizes of the Georges Bertellotti Golden Podium Competition were awarded to television professionals and those of the Renaud de Laborderie Sport Book Competition to authors, was the merit of the Monaco DanceSport Association (MDSA). MDSA President Cherry Kingston and Vice-President Nicole Bertellotti, whose late husband was the originator of the Sportel awards, secured Peter Maxwell, Gabriele Goffredo and Anna Matus a place in the line-up of what was a star-studded extravaganza from start to finish.

With the juries of both competitions composed of exceptional athletes, the presentation of the awards was a veritable "Who's Who" in world sports: Donovan Bailey, CAN - World Champion, Olympic Champion and World Record Holder over 100 metres 20 years ago - Dan Carter, NZL - the standout All Black rugby player and multiple World Cup winner - plus many others of similar calibre took turns appearing on the stage of the Grimaldi Forum to hand over the trophies.

When that part of the evening was concluded, the Sportel attendants and the VIP moved to the legendary "Jimmy'z * Monte-Carlo" night club - and to the official After-Party of the Sportel Awards - where Peter Maxwell was the presenter of a spectacular DanceSport show by the 2016 World Champions in Latin: Gabriele Goffredo and Anna Matus.

If one considers that their audience consisted mostly of sports media and marketing professionals, it was quite possibly the highest impact presentation of DanceSport ever. And since this very audience put in a request for an encore, it was a highly successful one at that.

WDSF thanks the Monaco DanceSport Association and the dancers for making it all possible!
