2011 World Formation Latin

There is, some say, an unwritten law that applies to World Formation Championships. The home team always wins! It held true in Vilnius, LTU, as well.

Žuvėdra, the Lithuanian formation team affiliated with the Klaipėda University, was able to reverse the order of placing in the 2010 World Latin Formation, winning the gold and leaving Vera from Russia, last year's host and champion, with the silver. The home team always wins!

WDSF Communications was able to report on the World Latin Formation (even with some videos) on its Grand Slam blog, and it received some great photographs taken by Vytautas Kielaitis. Now we hope that the Lithuanian DanceSport Federation will be able to forward the broadcast for us to show you even more of the spectacular in Vilnius.

Final Placings | Marks

1. Klaipeda Zuvedra I, LTU | 1 1 1 2 1 2 2

2. Vera Tyumen, RUS | 3 2 3 3 2 1 1

3. Aachen/Düsseldorf Rot-Weiss, GER | 4 3 2 4 3 4 3

4. Gruen-Gold-Club Bremen, GER | 2 4 4 1 4 3 4

5. Klaipeda Zuvedra II, LTU | 6 6 5 5 5 5 5

6. HSV Zwölfaxing, AUT | 5 5 6 6 6 6 6

Wouldn't it make sense to use the new WDSF Judging System for Formation competition too, seeing that consensus on placings between the Adjudicators is hardly total? A more differentiated approach could benefit the formations and possibly do away with the unwritten laws too.
