Tilburg Moved
The number of entries exceeded that of last year: 127 couples from (almost) all continents had made their way to Tilburg, NED, to compete in the second World Championship Senior IV Standard. Germany had again the largest contingent dancing in round one, but Italy was not far behind.
When it came to the strongest nation, Italy had that honour all to herself: half of the couples dancing in the quarterfinal were Italian, the same applied to the final, and after the smoke had settled at the T-Kwadraat sports centre, the "il Tricolore" was hoisted and "Il Canto degli Italiani" played.
No, last year's winners Luca D'Andrea - Regina Scerrato did not defend their title, they ended up in fourth. New World Senior IV Champions are Luciano Ceruti and Rosa Nuccia Cappello ahead of the Dutch Bram Stelling - Ans Stelling and fellow Italians Alessandro Barbone - Patrizia Flamini. Japan was once again well represented and claimed the places five and six.
