The World Games 2009 Kaohsiung
Whether it was DanceSport's biggest crowd ever at an indoor venue is still being determined. Fact is that more than 13,000 came to the Kaohsiung Arena to watch the world's best athletes in Latin and Rock 'n' Roll fight it out for the coveted World Games medals. "Sold Out" signs went up at the box office in the early afternoon of 25 July. Organizers, officials and - above all - the athletes were overwhelmed by the public's response. "We have never performed before so many people; that this was the most incredible competition for all the couples here is the merit of the spectators," said Jagoda Strukelj (SLO). "They made the event!" Together with her partner Jurij, Jagoda won silver in Latin. Alexey Silde and Anna Firstova from Russia won gold.
