Last weekend the IDSF Annual General Meeting took place in Macau, China, Regency Hotel. The President Mr. Carlos Freitag could welcome the delegates of 41 IDSF Member Bodies, as well as the President of WRRC Mrs. Miriam Kerpan Izak, the IPC Delegate Mrs. Grethe Andersen, Norway, The UCWDC Mr. Jeff Bartholomew and the Representative of IDO Mr. Bill Fowler. Mrs. Andersen introduced IPC – Wheelchair DanceSport to the delegates, Mr. Bartholomew presented Country and Western DanceSport.

 The main item on Saturday, June 13th was the presentation of and open discussion on the Vision 2012 – the World DanceSport Federation, governing body of all Dancestyles.

The President Mr. Carlos Freitag presented the idea and Vision of the World DanceSport Federation - WDSF:

·         Establish and manage a unified DanceSport per best practice standards and proven procedures of WDSF Members

·         Improve DanceSport through the combined knowledge base and expertise of WDSF Members

·         Promote DanceSport on the strength of a larger unified constituency, having a broader appeal, and benefiting from economies of scale

·         Generate goodwill for DanceSport within the Olympic Movement and enhance its status in the international sports movement

 On Sunday, June 14th 2009, the IDSF AGM 2009 was held.

 

After reports of the Presidium Members, there had been carried Motions from the Presidium and from the Members. Here you can see a short overview of the most important motions and decisions, further details you will find in the minutes to come :

 

Competition Rules :

All participants in IDSF-granted Competitions must be identified to the satisfaction of IDSF and IDSF Chairman of the competition

  • Duration of Dances : in all rounds of competitions the music played shall be a minimum of one and a half minutes duration and a maximum of 2 minutes. This is also for the Viennese Waltz and the Jive. The Paso shall be played up to the second highlight (minimum).
  • Regulation in the procedure of Athletes changing countries
  • Registration of athletes with IDSF in the IDSF Registration System
  • Open Marking is not allowed in IDSF Competitions
  • Minimum time between the rounds must be at least 15 minutes.
  • Regulation of size of Competition number cards : the minimum size has to be DIN A5 ( in mm 148x210) 20% 
  • New Disciplines : IDSF Open Competitions in Standard, Latin and Ten Dance,  Freestyle Latin and Freestyle Standard, IDSF Open Competition “under 21”
  • Order of couples in the final of “Revised Competition Format” ( solo dances) must be chosen by random selection manually or by computer.
  • Senior III : 55 years/45 years
  • New IDSF Championships : Senior I Ten Dance, Senior II Latin
    Both competitions are held as “Open World Championships”

 

Financial Regulations

 

  • A slight increase of Fees, such as Membership Fees, Granting Fees, Fees to be paid to IDSF Adjudicators and Chairpersons.
    The increase will be in two steps : Jan. 2010 and Jan. 2012

 

Disciplinary Council

The Disciplinary Council was installed at the Annual General Meeting 2006 in Wels/Austria as a third body within the IDSF.

After the first 3-year term of the members of the Disciplinary Council there had to be elections for the next term.
