GrandSlam Latin Platja d'Aro, ESP

Avatar The year's third IDSF Grand Slam Latin was just held as part of the DO World DanceSport event currently taking place in Platja d'Aro, the Costa Brava resort town located 70 km north of Barcelona, Spain.

74 couples from far and wide entered the contest. Two couples from Canada (Belyayev, Anton - Popova, Antoanetaand  and Milot, Jean-Philippe - Bolduc, Laurence) and one from China (Shi, Lei - Zhang, Baiyu) had to travel the farthest) to keep their appointments with the rest of the world's elite.

After a spectacular final in a sold out Sports and Congress Center, the panel of Adjudicators established the standings which clearly reflect the Russian dominance:

Organised by ATA Productions, the DO World DanceSport continues through 3 May, with what will end up being another record participation in the different styles of DanceSport. The highlights of 2 May are the IDSF World Championships Standard for Senior II and an International Wheelchair DanceSport competition with the world's best in Combi Latin II, a discipline which has one ParaDance and one able-bodied athlete team up for inspiring performances in the Latin dances.

DO World DanceSport is televised nationwide with an unprecedented 12 hours of airtime. Short clips of the best Grand Slam performances will be available on idsf.net in the days to come.
