2014 AGM Bucharest | Sport

2014 AGM Bucharest © Marina The 2014 General Meeting in Bucharest, ROU, approved a number of amendments to the Competition Rules. Here’s a summary of the ones considered to be most significant.

Rule B.2 was amended to include a clause on the eligibility of athletes competing in major WDSF Competitions. However, the enforcement of the amended rule B.2.3 is left to the disrcetion of each WDSF National Member Body.

For an athlete to be eligible to compete in World Championships, GrandSlams and in games (such as The World Games, Asian Games, World DanceSport Games, etc.), he or she may - at the discretion of his or her WDSF National Member Body - be required to have competed exclusively in the WDSF Competition System in the 12 months leading up to the respective event.

An amendment was made in a similar spirit to Rule D.2. D2.2.5 stipulates that an athlete who has represented a country in a Championship or Cup in a different DanceSport system is not permitted to represent any country in any WDSF Championship or WDSF Cup competition until a period of 12 months has elapsed since the last representation.

Possibly the most important amendment was made to Rule E.8 (Adjudication). The clauses addressing the “Revised Competition Format” and the “New Judging System” (NJS) include new wording that will make it possible for the NJS to be used with immediate effect in World Championships or Cups.

Significant changes were also made to the Rules governing Competition Dress (E.10), Showdance (H) and Ajdudicators' Licenses (X).
